This establishment is old Mexico in the middle of Independence KS. The food was authentic with super-sized portions. Don't order the California burrito unless you have a LARGE appetite. It's enought for two. The Carne Asada is more beef than one man can eat for a single meal. The chips & salsa were bottomless. We arrived when there was a birthday party of 10. After finishing, the traditional song in Spanish & English was sung to accompanying music from an accordion. Very fun, placed a sombrero upon the birthday "girl." We'll definitely stop in again!

Maria's is our go-to place for great meals. We've been coming here for 10 years and it never disappoints. The carne asada and enchiladas suiza's , yum yum , well it's hard to decide which I like best. The service is top notch Juan and rest of the service staff are friendly and make your visit pleasant , with a great atmosphere.

I come here once a year when I’m in town for the 1/2 mile race event that takes place at the local airport and I’m joined by a large group of people each time. The staff does great each time, accommodating all of us with smiles and great food and drinks. The carne Asada is what I got this last visit and it was pretty dang good. The margaritas are a little on the sweeter side, but there is still plenty of tequila in them. I’ve never had a bad experience during the 3 times I’ve been here and I will definitely be returning in the future.

We were in town from Dallas/ Ft. Worth for our Lewis/ Ford Family Reunion. We stayed at the hotel next to this restaurant. I knew once I arrived that the food was gone be good. I absolutely love Mexican food and this place did not disappoint us. The food was delicious and hot. The drinks were great and the service was out of site! Definitely look forward to returning.

We have been to Maria’s twice now. both times were AMAZING. The food always comes out hot and fresh, they have not messed up any part of our orders and they treat my daughter (almost 5) like a family member. The staff is so sweet and very attentive (and not in an overbearing way). I actually enjoy the fact that I can watch them fill up my drink as I am a diabetic and can’t drink regular soda (bad experiences other places that gave me regular soda instead of diet because they thought it was just a preference). The dining room is very clean for how busy they are! Always a favorite!
